Tope FAMILY PAGE

     Joseph Tope, son of John Tope and Mary Helmick, was born in 1812 and died before 1896 in Steubenville, Jefferson Co., Ohio.  He married Nancy Hazlett, daughter of James Hazlett and Mary Bowman [note 1]. Nancy was born 15 January 1811 and died 21 August 1873 in New Rumley, Harrison Co., Ohio [note 2].

Joseph and Nancy had seven children:

1. Mary Jane Tope married John Bishop.
2. James Tope died young.
3. Rebecca Tope.
4. John Van Buren Tope.
5. Matilda Tope married B. J. Pekins.
6. Elizabeth Tope married James Manbeck.
7. Frances C. Tope married Jacob Finnicum.
