John Jacob Tope, son of Jacob John Tope and Sarah Everhart, was born 28 Feb 1830 in Carroll Co., Ohio, and died 30 October 1911 in Clearwater, Wright Co., Minnesota. He married Margaret Stall, daughter of Abraham Stall and Elizabeth Grove, on 12 January 1854 in Jefferson Co., Ohio [note 2]. Margaret was born 13 August 1834 in Harrison Co., Ohio, and died 28 May 1905 in Fayette Co., Iowa



John and Margaret (photo above) had eight children:

1. Sarah Ellan Tope was born 13 February 1862, and died 12 August 1945.
2. Elizabeth Virginia Tope was born 1864, Iowa and died 17 February 1956.
3. John Elmer Tope was born 18 July 1866 and died 2 June 1959.
4. William G. Tope was born 10 Jan 1868 and died 23 December 1951.
5. James Monroe Tope
6. Mary Belle Tope was born 22 Sep 1872 and died on 24 July 1972.  She married Marshall Spoul.
7. Samuel M. Tope was born 8 April 1875 and died on 19 April 1900.  He married Ellen Miller.
8. Emma Blanche Tope was born 6 October 1877 and died January 1965.   She first married Allan Boale and then Garrfried Martin.
