Samuel
Marshall Johnston, son of Sarah Ann Tope and John Johnston, was born on
23 May 1849 in Perry Co., Ohio, and died on 17 February 1928 in
Oskaloosa, Jefferson Co., Kansas. He married Martha Ella
Crawford, daughter of Arthur Crawford and Elizabeth Boyd, on 13
December 1874 in Eldorado, Iowa. Samuel was buried on 19 February
1926 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Kansas.
Samuel and Martha had four children:
- Owen Tilden Johnston was
born on 6 November 1876 in Union City, Iowa, and died on 23
January 1932 in Oskaloosa, Jefferson Co., Kansas. He married
Ada Nevada Myers on 15 February 1899 in
Ozawkie, Kansas.
- Roy Hancock Johnston was
born on 17 October 1879 in Miltonvale, Cloud Co., Kansas. He died
on 3 January 1947 in Oskaloosa, Jefferson Co., Kansas. Roy married
twice: Elizabeth Beyer Weber, and Grace Elizabeth Perry, who was born
30 November 1881.
- Jennie Mae Johnston was born
on 3
December 1883 in Miltonvale, Cloud Co., Kansas, and died on 27
August 1974 in
Valley Falls, Jefferson Co., Kansas. She married Morrison
Waite Smith on 12
March 1906 in Oskaloosa, Kansas.
- Frankie Ethel Johnston was
born on 4
March 1889 in Miltonvale, Cloud Co., Kansas, and died on 17 July
1972 in a hospital in Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas. She married
Robert Brey on 6 November 1908
inTopeka, Kansas. Robert was born 28 May 1886.
